Challenge all staff members and volunteers to participate in these essential interpretive skills:
Actively help visitors feel welcome and that they belong.
Provide basic site orientation and recommend activities for visitor needs.
Enthusiastically take responsibility for addressing visitor needs.
Encourage stewardship based on the resource, not the rules.
Communicate the natural, cultural, and recreational site significance.
Promote self-guided resources and when applicable lead the Junior Ranger Pledge.
Know and promote the park programming calendar.
Facilitate roving interpretation.
Take pride in your park - never walk past a piece of trash.
Participate in a culture of always wanting to improve their service to visitors.
